Jig Grinding services from Spindle Services

Jig Grinding Services from Spindle Services Ltd

Jig Grinding is the process of grinding holes and slots using small diameter, high speed wheels, which reciprocate up and down the component.

Special Tooling plate with 64-off jig ground slots around the periphery.

Jig Grinding is used where it is necessary to produce holes or slots to very tight tolerances, usually on flat or round components. Pitch Circle Diameters of precision ground holes can be produced with virtually no positional error e.g: Gear Planetary Carriers. In addition, external or internal radii can be accurately ground into position.

Spindle Services offer this service on our pair of Moore Special Tool Jig Grinding Machines. These exceptionally rigid machines offer accurate, repeatable jig grinding with digital read out and Glass Scale positioning. The air driven, high speed spindles run at up to 60,000 RPM ensuring an optimum surface finish to any product.

  • We can Grind holes from 1.5mm (1/16”) diameter up to 200mm (8”) diameter
  • Maximum bore depth which can be accommodated is 75mm
  • Maximum component height is 560mm (22”)
  • Maximum component weight is approximately 150 Kgs
  • With our special Radius Grinding Fixtures, we can grind up to 600mm (24") diameter
  • Both hard and soft components can be ground
  • As with most grinding processes, for best accuracy and surface finish, parts are better ground in the hardened state.
